Run Shannon Run!!!

Ok, so I have been jogging, walking and hiking with my new fitness buddies. Last night they wanted to alternate jogging and walking. WELL, let me tell ya, I was on fire. I felt so good and could of kept right on going but my buddies had to stop to take the walking breaks. You know when your jogging and you get into that mode where it feels so good and you can go forever? That’s where I was last night. All that treadmill work has paid off for my endurance now, I’m a happy camper!

Tonight we go for the hike which I love, feel it in the legs big time plus I have on my 10 lb backpack. Outdoor workouts beat indoors to me anyday. The fresh air and scenery put the mind in a happier state after a hectic day.

Our dog is doing well after her operation last Wednesday, she gets her stitches out tomorrow. AND I learned alot about dog foods. I always thought dogs need mostly all protein when the vets told me that’s false. They eat lots of vegetable matter as well. So I changed Hope’s food to a senior formula which helps control her weight, she has a muffin top like her mama lol !!! In another week or so she’ ll be joining me on the trails again and we can whittle our middles together!

Wishing you all a great Thursday!

Acidic vs. Alkaline in the body.

This is very interesting from the title of my blog. If a person eats lots of acidic foods which are usually animal derived, their body can be very acidic. This will leech other nutrients out of the organs/bones to help the body with nourishment. Creating conditions such as kidney stones, osteoperosis etc. I wonder how people do on the Atkins diet for years? I couldn’t paste the web address on here as I’m still trying to figure out this new system but if you type in my title it will take you to it. Check it out! Hope your all having a good Tuesday evening!

Hello out there!!

Ok this new system is going to get some getting used to, feel so alienated somehow from the rest of you all!

Wishing you all a great day! Think positive and focus on your end results with this weight loss journey.

On the road again!

Well we got new license plates for our truck, it was only around $30 dollars to replace them seeing how we still had the front one to turn in.

rn

A buddy of Alex’s said it’s really bad now with plates getting stolen because of the high gas prices…the thieves put them on their vehicles and then do a gas and run…only will get worse as the gas prices will climb for the summer holidays. I said too bad we couldn’t electrify our plates so when they touch them they get a good zap!!!

rn

And I’m on the road again as well with the weight, had a stall there for several days. Darn sugar gets me everytime. Sugar sure takes a toll on me, both energy wise and appearance too. Amazing what eating healthy does to the outside of the body as well as the inside, soooo much better!

rn

Congrats to our team for the challenge win this week, and to the Hot Rods with their fantastic loss, both teams rocked this week!!

rn

That said, wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!

Chevy causes heartache again!

Our truck is causing us more stress…Today I was at the two local malls from 1 to 4 PM. I come home and am sitting in the house with my daughter when all of a sudden Alex is yelling at me to come outside.

rn

He was on the phone with a cop who called him, apparently the cops were on their way to pick up Alex for stealing gas from the Chevron station.

rn

Somebody stole our back license plate while I was in the mall and put it on a red truck matching ours where as they filled up the truck and zoomed off with out paying. So we get it all cleared up. Alex was mad and said didn’t I notice there was no back plate? I in no uncertain terms told him “No I don’t walk around our f-ing truck and check it out after I come out of a store”…I was so mad. He apologized to me…We always park the truck in the same area when at the one mall, no more, now it will be in the middle of the parking lot.

rn

So it’s going to be $75 for new plates which is BS if you ask me. We pay alot into our insurance and we havc to pay for new plates when they get stolen. It’s been a headache with the truck ever since it was stolen last December. Feel like buying an old clunker where no one would even want to look at it.

rn

Thanks for reading my rant…I hate criminals with a passion. They should bring back Alcatraz type islands for all inmates.

rn

Wishing you all a great evening, good luck for the team weigh in tomorrow…I have a loss, yahoo!!!!!

Try this again…

Hi all! Having computer problems and did a blog earlier only for our computer to turn off and I lost it.

rn

So the news in my neck of the woods…Our dog Hope had her operation and came out fine. It was a lump of fat so that was good news. She has lots of stitches but is doing well.

rn

I have some new friends who are into hiking/walking/jogging and we go 5 days a week. Nice to have friends who are into fitness. Although they can jog and talk the whole time, I by no means am able to do that…so I listen and huff and puff trying not to show my agony lol !!!

rn

Now the bad news, well for me…NOT doing well this week with the eating. After our daughter’s birthday last Sunday I have fallen off the wagon…not eating alot, just not the healthiest. I said to Wonder Woman, I sometimes think I’m just prone to stay this size when deep down I know it’s not true. I think if I stay OP for one or two weeks that miraculously the weight will be gone, …duh!

rn

So that pretty much sums it up, hope your all doing well and having success in this hard but soooo rewarding journey!

rn

Happy Thursday!

Sometimes we just need to have a good cry…

Hello buddies. Well it’s been a hectic evening here. We just came back from my parents which is 2 hours away. I am so stressed right now that I had to go to the basement away from my family and have a good cry.

rn

It all started with my Mom telling me my Dad hasn’t been feeling well. He has been having heart palpitations AND they’re leaving for vacation tomorrow to my brother’s place…6oo miles away.

rn

Apparently he has been having these palpitations for over a week and tells my Mom yesterday about them. It could be from all the coffee he drinks with his buddy, all the damn cigarettes he smokes, or it could be something more serious. He has some heart problems, on blood thinners, etc. So my Mom could of had him in the Doctor’s getting it figured out, now they’re driving all that way and I’m stressed to the max…What is it with men and why they won’t go to the Doctor?

rn

So that’s on my mind. We get home from their house and I’m fixing the kids dinner. All of a sudden Ty is screaming. Lexi had one of the toy golf clubs and thwacked him on the head with it. I turn around when I heard him screaming and there’s blood everywhere. I go “Oh my God” and Alex comes running, we try and calm him down while putting pressure on the wound. Blood is all over the floor, on his shirt, my pants, all down the side of his face…

rn

So we got that under control and had dinner. After I just lost it, I had to come downstairs and just cry. I’m tired, worried, and so angry at my Dad for smoking when he has some heart problems. I just don’t understand why he won’t stop smoking, I know it’s up to him but why can’t he see what it’s doing to him? I used to smoke years ago and was one of the lucky ones where I stopped cold turkey and it didn’t bother me. I know it’s hard, but doesn’t health trump the cigarettes?

rn

I just really needed to vent everyone…having a hard night. Tomorrow is our daughter’s birthday, she’ll be 2…so it will be a fun and happy day. After a good night’s rest, things hopefully will be better in the morning.

rn

Wishing you all a good night and a happy Father’s Day!

Remember YOU!

I worked out this morning and then this evening went for a hike up one of our local hills wearing my trusty 10 lb backpack. I feel great…so here is my little pep talk for those of you who are struggling…I have been there…

rn

You have to remember one important thing in this weight loss journey…YOU! When your working out and looking at that clock and groaning inwardly that you have x number of minutes left, your not thinking about yourself truly. Your thinking of other things.

rn

Take that exercise time and really think of what you are accomplishing. Feel that heartbeat getting faster when doing  your cardio knowing it’s doing your cardiovascular system good.

rn

When lifting those weights, feel those muscles working and getting stronger. REALLY think of what your controlling, it’s your body!

rn

Sometimes we can’t control everything, money comes and goes, same with friends, the housework is never quite done, all uncontrolable situations…

rn

BUT we all have the POWER to control our bodies, to what goes in our mouths, to the exercises we do to tone and shape it, to the time we take aside for our IMPORTANT SELVES.

rn

YOU have all the power over YOU, no one else does. Love your body enough to make it better, make it stronger, healthier.

rn

So on your next workout session, think about what you are doing instead of ”I can’t wait til this is over” attitude. Embrace the exercises, don’t despise them. Take that time and marvel in what your doing for you. Thinking equals success, it’s become my favorite motto!

Gotta laugh!

I just read some comments on my last blog. Ok, some of my buddies thought I carried my dog for 2.5 miles….Toooo funny!

rn

I think it’s the way I said it at the beginning, some thought I carried Hope and maybe my daughter walked, or maybe they think I call Hope my daughter.

rn

So to clarify things, Hope is my dog, Alexis (Lexi) is my daughter, Ty is my son, Alex is my hubby, and we have a cat Chayse but he does his own thing most of the time.

rn

I can see how some of you got confused, but no, I do not carry my dog, she’s almost 60 lbs, be a GREAT workout but I don’t think I have that much stamina!

rn

I keep chuckling picturing it in my head.

rn

Anyways, I lost 3 lbs last week, soooo close to 4 but couldn’t quite get those few ounces gone, damn digital scales anyway having to show it!

rn

I’m motivated more than ever! Hope you all are too, stay focused and driven for the best you can do!

rn

Happy Monday!!!

Different kind of workout today!

So off we go (my daughter, Hope (dog) and I) to the river trail after dropping Ty off at preschool. I get her in the jogging stroller only to discover the right back tire is flatter than a pancake.

rn

“Hmm, should I go home?” I say to myself and go on the treadmill, which I already did 20 minutes in the morning. ”Nope,” I thought, I’ll go on the trail anyways.

rn

I put the stroller back in the truck, picked Lexi up, and off we go. I am also wearing the 10 lb backpack again. I did 2.5 miles carrying her, had to stop a few times. She weighs 30 lbs, so all together I’m carrying 40 lbs.

rn

I’m quite proud of myself I must say, yes I’m tooting  my own horn because I could of said the heck with it and went home. My arms and legs sure are feeling it, even now tonight.

rn

So we all can get in a good workout, even if it’s unconventional.  You know when your jogging and your on the last stretch and it’s seems soooo long, that’s what it was like seeing the truck way down the path in the parking lot. LOL !!

rn

Have a great evening all!!!
